Musical Monday vol. 6

An actual song for a change!

I suspect this thing has bluesy chords or bar chords that I don't know. Haven't tried to arrange it yet.

Every month or so I have a couple nervous days where I'm not 100% sure. We're reasonably careful, and biology, alas, is on our side. Strange things happen all the time, though. And as that guy said in Jurassic Park, "Life finds a way." Life is stubborn and relentless and I don't entirely trust it not to happen. So instead of getting all freaked out (I'm not even overdue yet!), I wrote this song.

[babies on the brain]

oh, lately I got babies on the brain
so open wide, here comes the aeroplane
I see moms in the street or on TV
with babies, I go "hey! that could be me"

wah, wah, wah wah
goo, g-goo goo goo
wah, wah, wah wah
dog, what can I do

I wake up nauseated cause I'm sick
though I do not regret your sweet companionship
we ain't got what it takes to do this yet
I get the shakes, I light a cigarette

wah, wah, wah wah
goo, g-goo goo goo
wah, wah, wah wah
dog, what can I do

our small apartment's filled with pointy things
with gadgets, papers, little bits of string
my pay can't quite tread water with our bills
but I don't find myself disposed to kill

I pray it happens later
when we've pulled ourselves together
cause diamonds are for bank accounts
but babies are forever
we're young and poor and comfortable
in our filthy little nest
but you don't want to grow up yet
and I do not know best

wah, wah, wah wah
wah, wah, wah wah

so let be just be scared and sick and dumb
I pray for blood, oh quickly let it come
one of these times I swear to dog I will
get on the pill

wah, wah, wah wah
goo, g-goo goo goo
wah, wah, wah wah
dog, what can we do
